1985 Mercedes W123 300TD - Vacuum Modulator leaking & isolation
Trying to work out the reasons that my car’s engine won’t turn off. Smoke tested the system today and found the gearbox modulator leaking. So I isolated it and hey presto the engine stops and all the locks work! Now to change the mod unit.

Mercedes W123 300TD - Fuel Heater & Rogue Wire
Переглядів 196Рік тому
A previous owner has fitted what I think is a fuel heater, powered by a live feed and relay, both water and fuel pass through it. The car is running hot and I working through bits to rectify this. Work done so far - coolant flush and thermostat change. If I disconnect this I can eliminate the fact that this is doing something to my running temperature (just under 100 deg. C). It looks untidy an...

Leyland Metz BFH972 Ladder Pawls Maintenance

Following the ladder pawls jamming and the small springs inside them being so old and thus breaking. They've been degreased, refitted and re-oiled, and now seem to work pretty well again.

A re-enactment of a call that took place 75 years ago to the day where firemen faced the heaviest night of bombing during the whole of the Blitz. Thus is an edited run from Dowgate fire station to St. Paul's Cathedral. Thanks to City of London Police for their escort, LFB crews and officers, and the Fire Service Preservation Group. In memory of all the firemen and women who fought the blazes th...

It's taken a while, but she's running a lot better now, and there's just the twin exhaust to reinstate. Vehicle testing following ignition and brake linkages/ribbons work.

1937 ex-London Fire Brigade TL on the road from Crystal Palace to Brighton. Powered by an 8.8 litre 6 cylinder E29 petrol engine, you can hear it running through Redhill. The appliance deservedly won the Leyland Trophy and won second in the Emergency Vehicle class.

I have the same issue. Can’t figure out what’s wrong. Did you solve the problem??
They should have the helmets on! 👍
Senga saw! Green oil! 😂
The fuzz is louder then the two ton3s thats outrageous
I'm guessing the hydrants were different 40 years ago, hence why they're turning them on and off the opposite direction
Before modern era hydrants, the older type, identifiable by a longer cover were opened clockwise and closed anti-clockwise. 😊
Great to see this metz turntable ladder still alive and well i bet this appliance can reach 120 foot.just brilliant
17:09 the dennis is doing a drift to a stop
So sorry I meant 13:09
Miss those good appliances.
Where is part 2
This might surprise you. Those pants are unsafe rubber. The helmet is cork, and the tunic is wool that soaks up water, and the gloves were the same ones you buy at the garden centre, so quite dangerous material in a 200-degree fire
What a beautiful machine 😍
These AEC TLs and their predecessors, the 1930s Leyland Metz's, were beautiful machines! I've always been glad that the LFB, with one or two occasional exceptions, have resolutely stuck to using TLs - as exemplified by the latest 64m beasts!!
17:50 - How to cause a burst water main!
Am I correct in assuming the AEC directly behind the winching crew is the famous ET, now beautifully preserved??
Yes it is… owned by me 🙂
@@paddingtonfire No way??!!! You lucky, lucky person!! What a wonderful appliance to own! Can't begin to tell you how jealous I am!!
@@iwasglad122same I WANT ONE ESPECIALLY IF IT HAS TWO TONES
It's like London burning but irl in the 60s
Lousy bit of video
I Miss This Appliance, in the old days!
Great to see them using an old turntable ladder!
The 1st away machine the PE in this video is a Dennis F10, the 1st diesel Dennis's followed by the AEC Regent 111 P.
SO WHAT WAS PAUL SAYING? OR SINGING WAS IT SILLECE IS GOLDEN
Why wa's the fire engine's green in them day's?
Those were the military fire appliances/. They used them in the London Fire Brigade during the multiple strikes the unions used to call back in the day. They were manned by members of the military to provide fire service for Londoners when the firefighters walked off the job looking for more money.
Back when firemen got on with job without complaining or whinging not like fucking pansies today moan at least little things
Airfix should make a modelkit out of this beauty
what a beauty
When did the LCC switched to those ugly US wail and yelp sirens?
ᑭᖇOᗰOᔕᗰ
Wonderful sight! Great to see this old girl on the roads where she belongs! A credit to the owner. Thanks for preserving this fantastic piece of our fire-fighting heritage.
this is a fantastic video are there any more like this
There are a couple on my channel Peter, not uploaded anything for a while though… thanks for the comment.
A beautiful engine and lovely appliance from a bygone era
This video looks harder to restore using deoldify by making it in color, 60fps, and in 4K
It would be really cool if they somehow brought back the look of the Melton cloth tunic and oilskin pants. Of course with different materials though. We don't want them melting like they used to
A real sense of urgency with this emergency driving shown here. I don't suppose some of it is sped up for effect?
They don't make them like that any more...
Bloody brilliant no messing about straight in
I wish that engine was still in service
I just love these vans :)
Nice to hear sound from inside cab. Great memories.
its not fire engine, it is fire appliance
My brothers worked at the hotel and were in the fire but thanks to God survived 🙏 sorry for the seven victims which one was a fireman. The book entitled 'The Red Watch', is simply a narrated rendition of that tragedy. Well worth the read.
p
Dont think I have ever seen one so perfectly kitted out inside and so immaculate
Beautiful
Clarkson, little shit. Gave all firefighters a man to hate.
Excellent video. Thanks for posting it.
Is that nick drake singing in the background?
It has ALWAYS been illegal to measure distances along a Road in the UK in metric units. "Two lengths of large diameter hosecan be laid at speed for a distance of almost One Kilometre." at 9:40 NOT IN THE UK. It is only standard 3" branch hose anyway. Who are you - Remoaners?
oh sorry were you alive in 1983? you may have been but most likely very young yet my dad, born 1961 was most definitely alive during that time it was different. and it's not illegal...
Gear to be cleaned BEFORE going off duty, not when you come on or it was nut roasting time from the boss. Neckerchief??? In our brigade call them snotter beckets to stop the snot running down your neck. 😀
Depended on the Guv mine used to say he wanted your fire year spi c and span on watch change at start of shift plus your headlamps better be working - brightly! And when I was the Guv - I was a right bastard!
Not headlamps you tube - handlamps - God this lot sucks!
You tube listen you idiots, when I type FIRE GEAR don't print fire year!
The music towards the end really doesn't need to be in this video...
Not to mention the two tone horn that was in use by the fire appliance during this era
I'm still alive - just and I remember the BELL that the OIC used to ring as a forerunner to the two tones and I must not forget the flashing red fire light on the appliance. The good old days!!
Fantastic work! Keep it up for this lovely little van :)
